Product Review: Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Smith's Rosebud Salve

Smith’s Rosebud Salve: $7 at Anthropologie

Doesn’t this have the most adorable packaging ever? Smith’s Rosebud Salve is a minor staple around the beauty blogs, and after tying it, I can say it’s mostly justified.

The salve is a lovely bright pink color as you can tell and has a faint smell of rosebuds which is either nice or too heavy, depending on whether you like your lip products to have a scent. The formula is a thin gel-like liquid that blends easily into the lips.

Now, I must tell you – this isn’t a high-performance product.  I wouldn’t recommend using it in the winter or when your lips need some real help, as it’s only lightly moisturizing. It does sink in well however and gives a nice faint pink sheen which I enjoy. Overall, I find this a good basic product, but if you want an actually moisturizing product, go with Vaseline or Aquaphor, which still, and always will, beat out ‘beauty’ products for sheer effectiveness.

 Verdict: Okay
