When this ensemble popped up in “hyped” on Lookbook the other day, I glanced at it and guessed instinctively that the blogger did not live in Asia. Why? Because of the shoes. The rest of her outfit is certainly a basic Asia-inspired look – white silk top (the fringe is a little unusual, but a fashion-oriented Asian girl might choose it), minimal jewelry, pants in a subdued color – but the shoes, not so much. In all my time in Korea I never saw a woman wearing two-toned shoes; in fact, sneakers of any kind seem to be a general no-no for women. Feminine footwear gravitates much more toward boots and high heels. As it happens, this blogger, Rebecca Wang, does live in Toronto. Score one for me (while I plunge into a ten-minute reflection on the origin of two-toned shoes).
